Sorry for the repost, but we decided we needed wider distribution.
(Yes I cancelled the previous one, and yes I (*blush*) fixed the
spelling errors. I *thought* I'd spell checked the last one...)
Well, Unicus is at it again. We need more people. We need C programmers,
a Mac wizard, applications programmers, quality assurance people, and a
sales person. Unemployed? Bored? Looking for a neat job? Read on...
Unicus Corporation is a small company specializing in compiler technology
and telecommunications problems. The process of bringing our product to
market has opened up several opportunities, encompassing a diverse skill
set. We offer a relaxed, close knit work environment, with flexible hours,
varying workload, interesting people, minimal supervision and a rigorous
adherence to intellectual stimulation and product excellence. We are looking
for people who enjoy a challenge, and work well in a team environment.
These positions are available Feb 1. To arrange an interview, send email
or snail mail to the address below, or phone (416) 967-1320.
C Programmer (3 positions):
Two positions are available in our new Product Support
Group. These positions require a solid knowledge of C and
experience with programming over Unix. You will work under
the direction of the Product Implementation Manager to port
the product to various flavours of Unix and customize it to
suit the client's requirements. Team programming experience
is an asset. This position emphasizes flexibility, speed,
and good coding habits. These positions are available on
contract, if desired.
A third programmer is required in the Project Development
group. This individual will work with the Project
Implementation Manager and System Architect to do project
development work. This individual should have a strong CS
grounding, fluency in C, and some exposure to object
oriented programming languages. C++ knowledge is an asset.
Macintosh Wizard:
This individual will have had significant experience with
the Toolbox, especially with all those little details only
vaguely mentioned in Inside Macintosh, or only knowable via
direct experience or divine guidance. This person will be a
major resource person for the Project Development Group, and
should be well versed in user interface design and implementation
issues. A strong personality, with solid leadership
abilities, would be very welcome. Experience with object
oriented languages (like C++ or MPW Pascal) is preferred.
Fluency in C is assumed. Knowledge of C++ is an asset, as
well as a user's level familiarity with Unix and its
development tools.
Application Programmers (2 positions):
These individuals will work in our local applications
language under the Product Manager to develop solutions for
clients. They will have a good understanding of general
programming practices, and a willingness to investigate our
product as real programming-oriented users, and solve client
defined problems with it. This position could lead the
interested individual to representing clients' interests and
problems within Unicus itself. A solid combination of
interpersonal skills, programming experience and an ability
to talk to customers in their own language would be very
valued.
Quality Assurance:
This individual reports to the Product Support Manager,
and is directly responsible for the quality of the released
product. The successful candidate will be a person who takes
great pride in causing software to crash and burn horribly.
Persistence, unwillingness to be blinkered by what the
manual (or the developers) say, and a satisfaction in a bug
free world are desirable. An understanding of how algorithms
work and how to design experiments to constrain variables
are very important. The successful candidate will be in the
unique position of working closely in the definition of how
Unicus' QA program should work, and implementing the
accepted ideas.
Outside Sales:
Unicus needs a full time sales person to work with our
marketing people and let the marketplace know we exist.
Someone who enjoys travel across Canada and the US, and is
willing to beat down doors to demonstrate and sell our
product would be valued. Experience in the sales side of the
software industry would be very welcome. Give us a call - we
will know if we fit when we get together.
