FACULTY POSITION
University of Saskatchewan
Department of Computational Science
Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the
Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. The University
of Saskatchewan is the oldest and largest university in the Pro-
vince of Saskatchewan, serving 14,000 undergraduate students and
1100 graduate students. The Department of Computational Science
has 14 faculty members and boasts a small high-quality graduate
programme offering both the Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees, as well as
strong undergraduate programmes in three Colleges: Arts & Sci-
ence, Engineering, and Commerce. Research has long been of high
priority in the Department and is supported by some excellent
departmental computing facilities, including a VAX 8600, a
Pyramid 90x, a VAX 11/750, two Symbolics 3640 AI workstations,
and some 19 Sun workstations, all connected by means of an ether-
net. Access to campus-wide facilities is also available, both
for teaching and research. The University is located in Saska-
toon, a picturesque city of 180,000 people. Rated as one of
Canada's most liveable cities, Saskatoon is noted for its afford-
able housing and its rich cultural and recreational opportuni-
ties. Saskatoon is centrally located in Western Canada with
excellent air service to centres such as Toronto and Vancouver.
The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in Computer Science
(or related discipline) and a strong commitment to research. All
areas of the discipline are of interest, but a special effort
will be made to recruit in the areas of Artificial Intelligence,
Graphics, and Computer Systems. A curriculum vitae and the names
