Operating Systems Programmer/Analyst Academic Computing Services at The University of Calgary has a job opportunity for an Operating Systems Programmer/Analyst (Systems Programmer). The Programmer/Analyst will serve on a small team providing operating system support on a variety of computer systems including Control Data NOS on a CYBER 860 and a CYBER 830, PLATO on the CYBER 830, NOS/VE on a CYBER 860, and VSOS on a CYBER 205. Multics and UNIX also are supported by the Operating Systems Group. The position will enable The University to provide a high level of support for the computer systems, which provide service on a nationwide basis to university, commercial, and government users. A University degree (or equivalent) is required. A good understanding of computer languages such as FORTRAN, C, Pascal and assembler is needed. Experience with operating system maintenance on large computer systems would be an asset as would a working knowledge of accounting and database applications. Although the candidate will learn and develop skills by working with senior analysts, the ability to learn through self-study and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues are required. Experience with large scientific programs will be beneficial.
