Hello, I am trying to find out if anybody out there has any experience with jobs overseas. I am interested in working for an international company in South America, Europe, Australia or New Zealand. I am a Unix/VMS expert, familiar with all the aspects of Suns, Vaxes and other Unix computers. My wife and I speak several languages (English, French, Spanish, and a bit of German). My questions specifically are: Have you worked overseas? What were your impressions? Were you paid a decent salary by North American standards? How did you get the jobs? Did you apply directly to North American companies? Did you just go to those countries and try your luck? Have you dealt with international headhunters? Can you tell me good or bad things about them? Can you suggest some names, or tell me to stay away from some? Some of them charge hundreds of dollars up front, is this worth it? Any help, suggestion, comment would be appreciated. Thanks, Murray Thompson murray@larry.mcrcim.mcgill.edu
