  ROBOTICS AND FACTORY AUTOMATION

       ATS Inc. is an aggressive, established company that has
       become an industry leader in robotic automation and
       integration. As a result of continued growth, we are
       recruiting for additional staff.

       ----------------------------------------------------

  C LANGUAGE PROGRAMMERS

       Automation Tooling Systems requires experienced C language
       programmers to develop software modules for our customers.

         Typical projects include:

        * Interfaces to industrial robots.
        * Interfaces to automation equipment such as high speed
          IC placement machines.
        * Communication gateways to mini and mainframe
          computers.
        * Drivers for protocols such as TCP/IP.
        * Development of specialized languages for automation,
          including rule based languages.


  QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  EDUCATION

        * A degree in Computer Science plus two years of
          experience, or:

        * A degree in Engineering, Physics or other science
          discipline plus five years of software development
          experience in a high level language such as "C" or
          Pascal.

       Non-degree candidates will be required to demonstrate their
       software development ability.


  EXPERIENCE

       No specific work related experience is required, however the
       following types of experience are advantageous.

        * On-the-job experience with the "C" language and UNIX
          or QNX operating systems.

        * Experience with communications protocols and/or
          exposure to the OSI model.

        * Real-time programming experience in electro or
          electro/mechanical systems involving hardware
          peripherals.

        * Work in a related field such as automation, or process
          control. A strong manufacturing engineering
          background is an asset.

  SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATORS

       We require experienced programmers to identify and develop
       specialized software tools for our in-house and field users.
       Additionally, candidates will be required to assist in the
       support of our local area network and minicomputer based
       systems. Systems include a 90 node QNX local area network,
       and a DEC VAX minicomputer.

  Software Tool Development

       Examples of tools already identified for development include:

        * ARCNET/ETHERNET bridge.
        * Archive system.
        * UNIX style spelling checker.
        * Wide Area Network

         ATS is committed to the support of its in-house and field
       users. We have already written over 100 development and user
       support tools.

  System Maintenance

       The position is also responsible for the following systems
       maintenance functions.

        * Maintain the system's backup facility.
        * Monitor network performance, correct performance
          problems.
        * Install new software packages.
        * Provide for modem dial-in and dial-out services.
        * Support wide area network.
        * Answer questions from developers concerning system
          usage. Assist developers with system related
          problems.
        * Provide for the security of the system.

  EXPERIENCE

       Candidates to this position must have a strong background in
       UNIX and/or QNX based multitasking architectures. Experience
       in the "C" programming language is also required.

  TECHNICAL WRITERS AND INSTRUCTORS

       We have several openings for junior and senior technical
       writers and instructors to prepare manuals and training
       courses for state-of-the-art factory automation equipment.

         Typical projects include:

        * Custom-Built Automation Support Manuals
           - User's Manuals
           - Service Manuals
           - Engineering Manuals

        * Standard Product Support Manuals

        * User Interface Design

        * Customer Training
           - Operators
           - Maintenance Technicians
           - Engineers

        * Customer Sales Presentations

  Qualifications

       Education

        * A degree or diploma in mechanical or electronic
          engineering plus two years of experience, or:
        * A degree or diploma in English (Technical Writing)
          plus three years of technical writing experience.

       Candidates will be required to demonstrate their writing
       ability and mechanical aptitude.

       Experience

       No specific work related experience is required, however the
       following types of experience are advantageous.

        * Writing or training experience with mechanical
          equipment
        * Writing or training experience with software products
        * Experience with Apple Macintosh computers
        * Work in a related field such as automation, or process
          control
        * A strong manufacturing background is an asset.
