POSITION:  A BCnet Manager at the UBC Computing Centre is required
to coordinate and act as  a  central  point  of  contact  for  all
activities related to BCnet, and actively promote the expansion of
BCnet. BCnet is BC's high-speed regional data network.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:    Major    responsibilities    will     include
administration,  planning,  the  provision  of  user  services and
network operations.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: B.Sc. in Computer Science with a  strong  emphasis
on  computer networking and data communications. Five to ten years
of experience  in  the  field  of  computer  networking  and  data
communications.  Familiarity  with  local  and  wide  area network
technologies,  especially  Ethernet,   is   required.   Experience
supporting  computer network hardware and software in a production
environment  is  necessary.  Knowledge  of  UNIX  networking   and
knowledge of DECNET are assets. Computer programming experience is
useful but not required. An in-depth knowledge  of  the  technical
aspects   of   computer  networking  and  data  communications  is
required.  Excellent  communications  skills,  technical   writing
ability, and marketing skills are definite assets.
