RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION THE DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL EPIDEMIOLOGY & BIOSTATISTICS McMASTER UNIVERSITY, FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES We have an immediate opening for an applied biostatistician with an interest in clinical trials, data analysis, statistical graphics and computing. The successful applicant will join a clinical trials group which is currently engaged in running and planning a number of trials, and in related software development including: - a large 7 year North American trial of carotid endarterectomy - a number of Canadian studies coordinated by the Nephrology Research Group - a trial of physician prescribing practices among the elderly in Ontario - various drug trials - educational and research software including CTS, a Clinical Trials Simulator and Sunview tools for data base management and statistical analysis THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: - experience in the design, management and analysis of clinical trials or in a related area of applied experimental research - experience with statistical packages: BMDP, SAS, S - experience with UNIX: including some awk, shell and C programming - a Masters or PhD in statistics or equivalent graduate training Our computer facilities include a LAN of SUN 3 and SUN 4 workstations with a SUN 4/280 server and an ethernet link to other McMaster mainframes. We are looking for a creative individual with good communication skills, and a desire to make an important contribution in a collaborative working group. This position is open effective May 1, 1989.
