Institute for Space and Terrestrial Science TECHNICIAN We have an immediate opening for a Technician to work in the Human Performance in Space Laboratory of the Institute for Space and Terrestrial Science. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The technician will work under the supervision of the Director of the Laboratory and will help to build and service apparatus. The workshop is associated with a research laboratory with three research assistants and several graduate students. A general workshop with its own senior mechanical and electronic technicians is available. QUALIFICATIONS: A basic knowledge of workshop practice, including turning, milling and welding. An aptitude for designing and fabricating mechanical and electromechanical devices for novel applications in a research labroatory, using a variety of materials including metal, plastics and wood. A knowledge of servo motors and electronic and computer control of mechanical systems would be beneficial. An elementary knowledge of optics.
