I fear that some on the net may have misinterpreted part of my note. As far as I know, no firms outside of the four companies in the distribution test program have Smalltalk licenses. The licensing issue has been bouncing around Xerox like a hot potato and I really couldn't say who is responsible for it these days. I think PARC is no longer involved in the licensing loop - it is one of the product divisions. As far as universities go, both Brown and UCB apparently have licenses now. A number of people at Stanford tried to get a license for a SUN version for over a year without success. That experience left a bad taste in my mouth about Smalltalk licensing, so please don't ask me how you can get a Smalltalk license. Outside of the special agreement which landed HP, DEC, Tek, and Apple free licenses, I know of no other commercial arrangements. Joe Falcone hplabs!jf
