R & D OPPORTUNITY IN EXPERT SYSTEMS

Becton Dickinson and Company, a multinational Fortune 500
health care firm, has an opening for a computer applications
professional in our Corporate Research Center in Research
Triangle Park, North Carolina.
As a scientist in our Applied Physics Department, you will
provide leadership in formulation and solution of complex problems
in computer applications. Your responsibilities will include:
- Establishing a technology base in expert systems, including
choice of appropriate hardware, software, and program development
tools.
- Defining expert systems applications relevant to the interests of
Becton Dickinson.
- Developing knowledge bases via interaction with domain experts.
- Varied involvement in modeling, simulation, analysis, and
scientific applications of computer technology.
Your background should include an advanced degree in electrical
engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence or
equivalent. Proven ability to develop non-trivial expert systems
is important and industrial experience is preferred. Knowledge of
Prolog or LISP, and FORTRAN, C, or equivalent is essential.
Familiarity with VAX 11/750, TEK4404 and IBM PC desirable.
Some exposure to medical or biological science helpful.
