I'm interested in running Smalltalk-80 on SUN workstations, and I was wondering about virtual machine interpreters - I know about the Berkeley Smalltalk system, but I was wondering if there were any others of similar speed? If you know of any interpreters (probably written in 'C') that will run under 4.2BSD, could you let me know? I'm also quite interested in any pointers toward implementation notes - I know there are lots of papers published on efficiently implementing the interpreter (to supplement the blue, etc. books) and pointers/references would be welcomed. Reply by mail (if you can...). I'll summarise to the net. -andrew -- ------------------------------------------- Andrew Stewart UUCP: andrew@aimmi.UUCP ARPA: andrew@aimmi.ac.uk "Once the subject is clearly understood, the explanation will seem sensible."
