*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE *** SMALLTALK COURSES Introductory Smalltalk-80 Class Tektronix will be holding a four-day Introductory Smalltalk-80 class on April 14-17, 1986, at Irvine, California. This class will introduce the student to object oriented programming, enable the student to extend the Smalltalk language by adding new methods and classes, and prepare the student to write simple applications using the model-view-controller paradigm. Participants should be experienced in at least one high level programming language. This class has been held previously in Gaithersburg MD and Dallas TX and recieved excellent reviews. Advanced Smalltalk-80 Class Tektronix will be holding an Advanced Smalltalk-80 class on April 22-25, 1986, at Beaverton, Oregon. This class will enable the student to utilize advanced techniques of Smalltalk, including advanced model-view-controller concepts, project management and team programming, multi-process programming, and external processes and language interfaces. Participants will be expected to understand the major classes of Smalltalk and should have three to six months of Smalltalk programming experience. I attended the Smalltalk-80 class that Tek did in Dallas. I found it to be extremely well done. They have thought this out and provide a well organized class with: notes, hands-on labs, and true interest in "preaching Smalltalk" not being an excessive marketing ploy to get you to buy their machines...though I am sure they would love that as well. Major topics to be covered in the Advanced class include: * Model, View, Controller - what they are, how they work, how to use. * Multi-process Smalltalk programming, including external processes and interfacing to other languages. * Multiple Inheritance - possible uses, advantages, concerns and the Smalltalk implementation. * Smalltalk programming style. * Smalltalk Project Management, including change management and team programming examples.
