A bunch of us were in the terminal rooms and offices one night and all of us got our programs to run simultaneously. Naturally the machine crashed (actually the entire local network, even the arpa net burped momentarilly). In the terminal room I met with 3 unix wizzards and an advanced grad student who still doesn't understand virtual memory. I myself am an AI adept. Someone suggested that we create a new newsgroup while we waited for the machines to come up. After some discussion between the wizzards we decided to sit in a circle and recite an incantation (I suggested waiting for a machine to come up but they shouted me down with statements that meant "Don't be absurd" but were less polite). This is what we chose to recite in 5 part off key harmony: Midnight Hacking, Network Hacking Code aflying, bugs adying Coke cans spinning, rogue games winning inodes flying, kernals dying let a new news group be, let there be one for all to see let net.rec.drugs exist! However the advanced grad student started to gigle uncontrollably about halfway through so guess what we got instead. -David Sher sher@rochester seismo!rochester!sher I didn't write this, I didn't even think this!
