=> Dear Not:
=>
=> What a straight line! You even specifically invite me to use the
=> AAA map. OK, on your AAA Portland map, look just east of Tualatin and
=> south of Lake Oswego, at the intersection of SW Borland Rd and Stafford Rd.
=> It's at O8 on my map.
=>
=> If your collection is so bare you only have the Oregon/Washington map,
=> you'll have to look at the "Portland and Vicinity" inset in the same
=> place (I know it's boring for it to be in the same place on both maps,
=> I guess AAA doesn't have a good enough imagination.) This is at the
=> bottom of the inset, just north of I-205.
=>
=> What's bizarre is that I am convinced that Wankers Corner is an invention
=> of AAA. I have never seen a map printed by anyone else showing it.
=>
=> Not Not Sid Vicious (Oh, My God! Now I have to change jobs!)

Dear Not Not: (Yow, are we confused yet?)

I was right and I was wrong. The map I first checked was put out by the
State of Oregon (this is one of those maps they put in boxes at the tourist
information kiosks at the side of the highway. Wankers Corner was not on
that map. BUT, a bona fide AAA map (the Oregon/Washington one you mentioned)
has since fallen into my possession, and it is indeed there. I also got mail
from someone at Tek who swore that the town was five minutes from where he
was sitting as he sent the mail. This was accompanied by the disappointing
news that Wankers rhymes with bonkers, not with chancres. Oh well.

I think you're right about Wankers Corner being an invention of AAA, though
(despite what I'm told). Otherwise, why wouldn't the state have it on the
map that it produced itself???

P.S. I know I'm not Sid Vicious, because we have already definitively
      established that he's not on the USENET.

And why does pronunciation matter, you ask? Because in British slang,
a wanker (rhymes with "chancre") is someone who spends his private moments,
uh, wanking. I heard about this yesterday because at Wang Laboratories, Inc.,
in Lowell, we have a Burger King, which someone suggested ought to be
called "Wang King." A British expatriate at the table promptly burst into
hysterics.
