I happened to think of a mildly bizarre item found at my alma mater, BYU. [Go Cougars! Sorry, wrong newsgroup...Chris Grevstad, listen up; I know you're out there.] There is a science building which has a statue of its namesake, Carl Eyring, in front of it. As a BRONZE PART OF THE STATUE, not as an addon or someone's prank, there is ivy going up one of his legs. (I never tried to find out the reason for that, though.) -- Back on the freeway, which is already in progress, Allen Grabert (...ittatc!bunker!allen)

Speaking of bizarre statues.....At my alma mater Purdue - at the Memorial Union above the front entrance is a square pillar.... Now upon closer inspection the front is carved with the likeness of a man and woman with the women holding a bunch of grapes... the second and third sides appear similar with the couple in a cornfield....but on the fourth side only the image of a man and a sheep....I always thought IOWA was where the sheep are nervous !!!
