I've been meaning to post some excerpts from _Anguish_Languish_, an out-of-print classic by the linguist Howard L. Chace, for some time. The following songs are from the section of his book entitled "Lath Thing Thum Thongs!" Fryer Jerker Fryer Jerker, Fryer Jerker, Dormer-view? Dormer-view? Sunny lay martini! Sunny lay martini! Drink, drank, drunk. Drink, drank, drunk. Fur Hazy Jelly Gut Furlough Fur hazy jelly gut furlough Fur hazy jelly gut furlough Fur hazy jelly gut furlough Witch not bawdy candor nigh Hive Ban Walking Honor Roil Rut Hive ban walking honor roil rut Oiler laugh lung dare; Hive ban walking honor roil rut Jester pester tam aware. Conjure herder weasels blurring, Blurring sore oily inner moan? Conjure herder chalron shorting, Diner want chew blur debt hone? Hormone Derange O gummier hum warder buffer-lore rum Enter dare enter envelopes ply, Ware soiled 'em assured adage cur-itching ward An disguise earn it clotty oil die. Harm, hormone derange, Warder dare enter envelopes ply, Ware soiled 'em assured adage cur-itching ward An disguise earn it clotty oil die. If sufficient interest is shown, I may post a fairy tale by Mr. Chace, entitled "Ladle Rat Rotten Hut." Judith Abrahms {ihnp4,ucbvax}!dual!proper!judith

In Article 1280 I made a typographical error: In the song, "Hive Ban Walking
Honor Roil Rot," in the 7th line, the word "chalron" should be "chaldron". Of
course it makes no sense the other way.

Does anyone have the whole thing (i.e., about 3-4 verses)? I have this: Deck us all with Boston Charlie, Walla Walla Wash, and Kalamazoo. Nora's freezing on the trolley, Swaller dollar cauliflower alley-garoo. Don't we know archaic barrel, Lullaby, lillaboy, Louisville Lou! Trolley Molly don't love Harold, Boola boola Pensacoola hullabaloo. Corrections welcomed. I believe it's the second verse that starts, Bark us all bow-wows of folly... but that's all I know.
