.....JURY IS STILL OUT ON PROJECT FIRST CLASS by Philip J. Garcia

A junked car has been abandoned in an alley off K street in Southeast
San Diego for so long that a tree had sprouted through the grill.

When the car was towed away recently, a neighbor came out to watch.
"She was in tears she was so happy," said James J. Lantry, an aide to
4th District Councilman William Jones, who represents the area.

She pointed to her daughter and said, "She was born when they parked
that car there." Her daughter is 19 years old.

.....PIG PAL

The pigs of the world have a friend in Kentucky Pork Queen Lisa Hagedorn.
People snickered and said "You don't look like a pork queen.", ( ?? ) but
when she explained the benefits they didn't laugh so hard.

In addition to appearing at 24 more fairs, Hagedorn who is 18, won a
scholarship for $1,000, a PIGSKIN coat, and a chance to compete for the
honor of national pork queen.

Lisa was quoted as saying, "Hogs are beautiful and they aren't just
for eating."

.....TEXAS COPS SEAL OFF BANK ------- THE WRONG ONE ..story of the week

For almost an hour, police blockaded the wrong bank in a bankruptcy
proceeding and even prevented the bank's officers from entering the
building.

Police were sent to the MOODY NAT'L BANK at 2302 Post Office St. and
should have gone to W.L. MOODY & CO. BANKERS UNINCORP. at 2302 Church St.
one block away.

Renalt Grey, a dispatcher for American District Telegraph (ADT), sent
police to the Moody National Bank and told them that no one was to enter.
ADT said its orders came from U.S. marshals, who in turn said theirs came
from U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Letitia Taitt.

.....QUOTE ON THE BASEBALL STRIKE

"I'll do some work for ABC, Panasonic, and TRW. I'll go to Golden,
Colo., to see Mr. Coors...I won't be lacking for things to do."

.....CAPSULE VANISHES

When workers went to remove a 100 year old capsule at the Odd Fellows
Lodge in Eufaula, Alabama a unusual thing happened... it wasn't there.

Historian Doug Purcell had found a Eufaula newspaper dated June 2, 1885,
saying that the capsule had been placed in the building on May 29, 1885.
The paper "never said where the time capsule was. We always assumed it was
behind a marble plaque" on the front of the building, Purcell said.

So as a crowd gathered to watch, two workers pried off the plaque and
found--to everyone's surprise--a brick wall. Thinking it was behind the wall
workers, using sledgehammers, smashed the 11-inch thick wall and found,---
you guessed it-- more bricks.

They tried the front corners and found (guess). After using metal
detectors and finding only a few old nails, Purcell said "It has got us
baffled." But added "I have a feeling it's still in there."
