Here are a few more books with computers or computer programs as leading characters. I have included an opinion of value. John Brunner Shockwave rider The effects of networking and information overload on future society. Very good. Algis Budrys Michaelmas A news caster (ex-computer freak) has a connection to many computer via his own semi-senient machine. This enables him to keep ahead of (and manipulate) the news. Quite good in a low key way. Lou Cameron Cybernia Bad. A. Clarke The Nine Billion Names of God Tales from the White Hart Good but dated. Collections of short storys many of which are about the "giant electric brains". D. F. Jones Colossus The Fall of Colossus Colossus and the Crab The first was made into a movie Colossus:The Forbin Project. About the American defence computer (in a mountain somewhere) becomming senient and taking over the world.
