One of my favorite authors is Hans Hellmut Kirst, a German who has had many of his books translated to English. Most of his novels examine what Nazis have done to Germany, both during and after WWII. One book, "the Night of the Generals", should be known to many. Another of his books, "The Seventh Day", examines an inevitable acceleration of events leading up to a nuclear exchange in Europe which expands to include the whole world. It is so intensely written that when I finished it I just sat stunned. I recommend it to all who are following the nuclear freeze movement and Pershing missle placement "discussions".
