[I hope this isn't a duplicate, but we've been having netnews problems lately...] Re-reading Kurt Vonnegut's Palm Sunday recently, I came across the essay in which he grades his own books. Having now read all of his books, I was surprised at how my grades for his books differ from his grades. Well, I decided that net.books would be the perfect place to see how other people feel about Kurt Vonnegut. So, how do you feel? Specifically, I'd like to have you respond to a survey. Please grade the Kurt Vonnegut books you've read (using A+ through F), and mail the responses to me. As usual, if/when I get enough responses, I'll summarize for the net. To jog your memory, what follows is a list of books by Kurt Vonnegut. These are all of his that I can remember while sitting here at work. If I've forgotten any, sorry. In no particular order: Sirens of Titan Player Piano Cat's Cradle Slaughter-house Five Breakfast of Champions Welcome to the Monkey House God Bless You Mister Rosewater Mother Night Slapstick Jailbird Palm Sunday Dead-eye Dick Eagerly awaiting your replies, and happy to be discussing something other than the merits of SF, I remain (unfortunately) Bill Banze (...!bunker!willy) [ I'd much rather be Bill Banze Author of the Great American Novel ]

In the list of his books, you forgot the very best of them: Venus on the Halfshell

According to a recent article, Kurt Vonnegut did *NOT* write Venus on the Half Shell, but merely sold the rights to the name Kilgore Trout to another author. He has regretted that decision ever since, since everyone assumes that he wrote it himself.
