  I have been an avid reader of Stephen King's books for along time now.
I have also read many other scary books; books that give you chills at
night, and should never be read with the lights out. I am interested
in reading some other authors now. Does anyone out in the net know
of other authors that write about the occult, macabre or other stories
that scare the %$*& out of you? Please mail and lists of authors
directly to me. I will sumarize the list (if I get a list) later,
if there are requests.
			Thank-you in advance

Have you tried H. P. Lovecraft?
	Read the Cthlulu Mythos cycle, if you dare.

The Classics:

Saki (H. H. Munroe), E. A. Poe, Ambrose Bierce. Bram Stoker, Mary
Shelley both wrote more than their classic work.

Writers who specialize in horror:

Frank Belknap Long, classic; August Derleth, classic; Brian Lumley; J.
Sheridan LeFanu, classic;

Writers doing fantasy and horror:

Lynn Carter; A. Merritt, classic; Lord Dunsany, classic; Fritz Leiber;
Michael Moorcock (Elric)  {horrific fantasy}

Writers who've had at least one Horror story anthologized:

John Beynon Harris; Algernon Blackwood; Robert Block; Eddie C. Bertin;
Ramsey Campell; Walter DeBill Jr; Steven Grendin; David Linsey; Joeseph
Payne Brennen; Bob VanLaerhoven; Mannly Wade Wellman; James Wade;

None of these are the same as Steven King, but much of Lovecraft is
similar set in the 20's and 30's.

I find it very difficult to read ANY book with the lights out.
