Between the ages of 12 and 14, before I came to this country, I read all but a half-dozen of Agatha Christie's mysteries translated into French. When I was done with them, I turned to another writer in the same "Club des Masques" series. His name is Charles Exbrayat, and while many of his books repeat each other, he has written some first-class mysteries that are worth seeking out. I vaguely remember that his "Cet Imbecile de Ludovic" as one of the more moving reading experiences of early adolescence. Then again, that's the opinion of a thirteen-year old... --Charles (decvax!allegra!cbf)
