I thought I would see what the brouhaha about Rand was, so I bought a copy of "The Fountainhead" for myself. After >200 pages I could not force myself to read any further. Her writing is poor, her characterizations, shallow, and her plot, static. I did not find her ideas particularly new or profound, but that may be a reflection on myself, not her. I will really have to *want* to read the book to pick it up ever again. As Leonard Malden (sp?) would say, "This book rates a 3."
