In response to my requests for foreign (non-english) mysteries, several people suggested the series by the late Per Swarhol (swedish, and I do not apologize for the misspellings). I read the "Laughing Policeman" and it was very good (9/10). I also picked up a couple of paperbacks of the Judge Dee series by Robert van Gulik, and all I can say is that they were not worth the 27 cents each I paid for them... (4/10) Any other suggestions? #R:wateng:-43600:uicsl:16700005:000:305 uicsl!preece Oct 21 07:46:00 1983 "Per Swarhol"? I make allowances for funny spellings, but I think that may be a record. I realize you're working from memory, and I really don't want to be critical. I could also be wrong about the spellings, but the authors you had in mind were Maj Sjowall and Per Wahloo, the latter now being deceased.
