A recent order of mine from the Science Fiction Book Club contained a
little advertising insert for the Fireside Theatre, a book club for
play scripts and the like. Enough of the selections caught my eye
(The Dresser, Crimes of the Heart, etc.) that I'm considering joining.
Having been burned before, though, by book/record clubs (e.g. Columbia
House) whose promotional info lists all sorts of stuff in which I'm
interested but whose regular offerings would gag a carp, I'm just a
little hesitant, and want to check them out via the net first. Has
anyone out there dealt with this outfit before? Any recommendations
or horror stories? Do the normal monthly selections contain enough
of interest to at least complete the "four more books at regular low
Club prices during the coming year" obligation? Any information will
be greatly appreciated.
