Donaldson's next book is a mystery which is coming out under
the same pen name as his last mystery (R. Stephens).

Has anyone read the collection of short stories I saw by Donaldson
in hardcover? ( Written under his own name. Unless Stephen R.
Donaldson is a pseudonym. ) I forget the title, unfortunately, but
it had rave reviews by the NY Times on the cover, I think. Something
about a girl in a house, perhaps.

Donaldson fans might like to know that he has a story in the current
Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.

I thought that Stephen Donaldson was planning to write a third
trilogy dealing with The Land and the woman Linden Avery.

  Anybody know anything? Anybody interested?

The book is entitled "Daughter of Regals & other tales", and is quite
good. I somehow expected Lord Foul to appear everywhere (after reading
all six TC books, I got use to LF always being around...), but the stories are
all quite interesting and distinctive.

One of the short stories in the book, interestingly enough, is "Gilden-Fire",
a chapter that was removed from "The Illearth War" to trim the book down.
That, alone, made the book worthwhile to me.

The new Stephen Donaldson book is called "Daughter of
Regals and Other Tales." It is a wonderful demonstration
of his versatility; he is able to handle different styles
and subject matter very different from that in Thomas Covenant.
He also includes a missing chapter from the
Chronicles, which I found disappointing. However, the
other stories are for the most part well-written and refreshing.
