[net.books] Book wanted: Many-valued Logic by Rescher PLUS What happens to old books that no one buys?

jnw@uvacs.UUCP (07/10/84)

I am dying to purchase the following book

    %T Many-Valued Logic
    %A Nicholas Rescher
    %I McGraw-Hill
    %C New York
    %D 1969

Unfortunately it is out of print. If someone out there has a copy with
which she is willing to part, she can name the price. This doesn't of course
mean I will buy at that price, but any reasonable price will be considered.
Please respond by mail.

In a more general vein, is there some sort of book repository which keeps
lots [billions and billions] of out of print scientific books and resells
them to unsuspecting dupes like me? What do publishers do with their
old stock (besides distribute it for sale at a fraction of the price in
front of bookstores)? Do they burn those pearls of wisdom?
