i confess to not having quite finished "Finnegan's Wake," by James Joyce (by the way, anyone read "Masks of the Illuminati" by Robert Wilson?), but as far as i got was thanks to the "Skeleton Key" previously mentioned. It was a most enjoyable and illuminating experience, but extremely difficult. it helps to have a background in what Joyce had a background in - Irish, Catholocism, Celtic mythology, Latin, Greek, medicine, ... in fact, i think it probably helps to be drunk when you read it. (sorry for the facetiousness, but that is what is done at wakes.) as for the kids who travel to the 13th floor, it DOES sound familiar, but i'm as stumped as you are. if anyone remembers, post to the net, 'cuz i'd like to find the book, too.
