As of last summer, I've seen 11 Modesty Blaise books by Peter
O'Donnell, typically imported from England, and thus hard to find
outside specialty stores. My best luck finding them is at combined
SF/comic/used book stores.
The novels and comics strips share a common background, but tell
different stories. Some newspapers carry the strip, such as the
Detroit Free Press. Four volumes collecting some of the rarer strips
are currently available; try a good comic dealer. Its rumored that the
entire series of strips will be reprinted here starting next year!
Novels that I recall, in roughly chronological order:
Modesty Blaise
Sabretooth
I, Lucifer
A Taste for Death
The Impossible Virgin
The Silver Mistress
Last Day in Limbo
Dragons Claw
The Xanadu Talisman
Night of Morningstar
There is also a short story collection:
Pieces of Modesty
My personal favorite is `Last Day in Limbo'; any other opinions?
