Another vote for Kipling! One of the books I loved most, as a child, was "The Just So Stories", complete with woodcut illustrations by the author. The stories are amusing and imaginative (!) tales of "How the Leopard got his spots", "how the Elephant got his trunk" and (my favorite) "how the Armadillo got his armour" - and many more. Definitely a *must read* for kids. -- rod williams -------------------- dual!ptsfa!ptsfc!rjw

Ah, the Just So Stories. They are among the books I can read to my children again and again without getting bored. (Charlotte's Web is another.) Anything that can stand up to so much repetition just has to be good!
