>About five years ago a town in Arkansas banned the novelization of "Flowers for >Algernon"... "Flowers for Algernon" wasn't a novelization. That is, the movie, "Charley," was made from the book, not vice versa. That seems odd today, but it really used to happen! -- Leah A Zeldes ...ihnp4!wlcrjs!lazeldes

Well, the novel *was* a novelization of the short story (novelette, novella, whatever) "Flowers for Algernon," though, as Leah points out, *not* a novelization of the film CHARLY. "Flowers For Algernon" was a short story that became a television play, that became a movie, and that, finally became a book. I would not call it a novel. It is written in the form of Charlie's diary. If you haven't read either the short story or the book I would recommend both very highly. Rich Soyack
