[net.books] Searching for a bookstore

wmartin@brl-tgr.ARPA (Will Martin ) (06/06/85)

Greetings!

I am trying to find if a bookstore still exists -- my wife bought books
from this place by mail order many years ago, and has lost the address
she had at that time. We have tried the stock of out-of-town telephone
directories in our local public library, and have not found the correct
directory to cover the area or town she recalls.

The bookstore is/was called "NewEnglandiana" (might have a space or dash
in there somewhere), and the town she recalls was "North Adams, Massachusetts".
Could someone in that area look it up in your local telephone book, or
otherwise locate it, and mail or post the mailing address with zip code
and the telephone number?

If the store still exists, and someone reading this knows of it, or shops
there, can you let me know what it is like? She recalls it as being an
excellent source for quite-reasonably-priced used books, mostly for her
P. G. Wodehouse collection. Even if it still exists, it might have changed
in character over the years, or been bought out by other owners, and I'd
like to know if it is still a good old-fashioned used-bookstore, or now
just a run-of-the-mill new-book outlet, or whatever.

Speaking of P. G. Wodehouse, my wife is looking for sources that would have
copies of some of his out-of-print books; she lacks about 30 or so from
having a complete collection of his works. She is not particularily interested
in first editions, mint copies, or such collectible and expensive varieties,
but just reasonably-priced reading copies. If anybody knows of a source
for such, please mail me addresses & phone numbers.

Thanks much!

Regards,
Will Martin
