[net.books] Afro-Franco literature

joyceb@ptsfc.UUCP (J. Black) (07/26/85)

I am interested in reading works of African authors written in French.
I would appreciate any leads to authors, titles, sources.
Thanks in advance.

There is (or was a couple years ago) a bookstore in Paris called
	l'Harmattan, 16, rue des Ecoles, 75005 Paris.
I think they have a mail order catalog.

There are also a couple of french-language magazines about Africa
published in Paris, which sometimes do book reviews: Jeune Afrique
and Afrique-Asie. The latter is difficult to find in the states
in its french edition since its English edition, AfricAsia, came out.

One very fine author is Aime Cesaire. I recommend the dance-drama
whose title in English is "And the Dogs Are Silent".
