If you are looking for a clear explaination of various scientific phenomea for bright Jr. High and High Schools students this series is IT!! The series consists of several cartoons (Here's Looking at Euclid, Flight of Fancy, Computer Magic, Run Robot Run, The Black Hole, Big Bang, Everything is Relative, and The Silence Barrier) by the French astrophysicist Jean-Pierre Petit (trans to English by Ian Stewart). Attempts to provide clear descriptions of central concepts come around every now and again - the Mr. Tompkins series and After Man come to mind as some of the best - but this one is the best I've seen. I have the first two volumes (they come in the form of large magazine sized paperbacks at about $8 a pop) and am trying to hunt down the rest of the series. The publisher is WIlliam Kaufmann, Inc. Steve Crandall ihnp4!mhuxt!evans Stock up on them for Christmas presents to motivated kids.

The series intrigues me. My local book store has not heard of the publisher and can not find any information about the series "The adventures....", the individual titles "Here's Looking...", the author "Petit" or the translator. Please post information on the address and phone number of the publisher.
