Strange request, I know, but I have recurring memories of
ONE scene from a book, and I can't recall anything else about
it, author title, rest of the plot. Here goes:
A paper back novel I read in the last 5 years includes a
descsription of a room with white walls and plush white carpet.
The mantlepiece of the fireplace is marble and is quite tall.
The narrator is conveying a sense of wealth by describing a
roaring fire in the fireplace, while the windows are wide
open, causing the curtains to blow in the breeze.
Not much to go on, but it would mean a lot if someone could
help me place that passage. Thanks in advance.
