Can anyone send me the chronological order of the James Bond novels by Fleming. It's been a long long long time since I read them, lost all my papaerbacks, and would like to reread them. Thanks in advance. P.S. Can anyone give me the names and opinions about any other Bond stories written by other authors

As for other authors, I only know of recent works by Martin(?) Gardner: Licence Renewed For Special Services Icebreaker (one more that I can't remember) In my opinion, only the first two are worth reading, and then only if you like the James Bond movies. They certainly aren't as good as Fleming's. I think there were some other Bond books by someone else, but I have no idea whom. Does anyone else know? =============================================================================== Regards, Bill Weinberger ucbvax!trwrb!felix!billw ===============================================================================

The Gardner book that you couldn't remember is called ROLE OF HONOR. There is a Bond book by Robert Markham called COLONEL SUN. I don't know the date offhand but it was before the Gardner books. ds -- uucp: ...{harvard, seismo, ut-sally, sri-iu, ihnp4!packard}!topaz!steiner arpa: Steiner@RUTGERS or Steiner@RED.RUTGERS.EDU

For what it's worth. All of the books in the list after and including "The Spy Who Loved Me" were published after Fleming's death and there was a controversy at the time that "The Spy..." was not Fleming's work. I don't remember what happened after that. I do know that except for "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" There is a subtle style change in the later books. I always believed they were not Flemings work because of that. Mark O'Shea

You left out For Your Eyes Only, which is also a collection of short stories. It was published in 1960. I'm not sure of the movie date, but it was the one before Octopussy. I don't know the date of the book or film. The movie used about 4 scenes from different stories at different points and dreamt up a plot to go around them. (Which was ok, since the original stories weren't connected.) Overall, I thought the book was good, but not great. Chuck Koelbel
