(net.books readers - I am cross posting from net.roots because of overlap of interest. The original query concerned finding a book, seen in a library, that is now out of print.) Another method for buying a copy of an out-of-print book is to go to a bookstore that does "book searches" and ask them to get you a copy. They will usually require a deposit (you will get most of it back after some specified period, if they don't find your book). I have done this successfully for a couple of books I couldn't find, and that were out of print. You should expect to pay more than the original price of the book, if they find a copy (and it will generally be a used copy, to boot). But it does (usually) work, and requires only patience on your part (making it a good method for those of us who are terminally lazy). -- =Spencer ({ihnp4,decvax}!utah-cs!thomas, thomas@utah-cs.ARPA)
