[net.religion] persecution of Catholics in Mexico?

In today's N.Y. Times Book Review, there is a reference to persecution of
Catholics in Mexico in the 1930's.  I've never heard of this; can anyone
supply any details?  (I suppose I shouldn't be so lazy; the same issue also
reviewed "A History of the Church in Latin America".  Another book of potential
interest to readers of this newsgroup, also reviewed in this issue, is "The
First Urban Christians", a sociological history of the early Church.  It looks
interesting; I may try to find a copy.)
