Subject: Multitudes hearing the Gospel on Guatemala Campuses

[from "The Forerunner," the newspaper of the Maranatha Campus Ministries]

1983 is already proving to be a significant year for the advancement of
thte gospel in the Central American country of Guatemala. Since the day
the James and Jamie Thomas arrived in early January, their hearts have
been filled with an indefinable expectancy about what God is ready to do
there....

The Marantha team has also been working closely with an outreach team
from Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Over eight hundred [!!!] YWAM staff
are working in Guatemala during the next six months to reach out to the
capital city. It is obviously a special time for Guatemala! ...

President Rios Montt, who has met with James and Jamie since their
arrival in January, is also active in bringing Guatemala to Christ.
Each Sunday evening, he preaches the Gospel on nationwide television and
radio to the entire population. With a Spirit-filled Christian as
President, and hundreds of Christian missionaries working to reach the
ready multitudes, we can expect an earth-shaking spiritual awakening to
take place in Guatemala!

[The same issue also has a transcript of Reagan's speech to the National
Association of Evangelicals, an article called "The God of Israel is
Mighty!" with a neat drawing of the Middle East with big arrows from
everywhere (you know, USSR, Iran, Egypt, etc.) pointing at Israel, and
"What Your History Books Never Told You: the Christian reasoning behind
the Declaration of Independence."

What's interesting is that they have a chapter at MIT.]
