Why shouldn't we believe in magic if we want to? And about this rainbow business! Yes, to Christians, the rainbow is a symbol of God's covenant with Noah. Why does that mean there couldn't have been rainbows before the covenant. Maybe God decided to take something uncommon and special and use it as a symbol. I am reminded of special events or people by things which I associate with that person or that event. That is a symbol, and it doesn't mean that the object which is a symbol wasn't there before. It just means that it wasn't special before. I would say that the same thing applies to Noah and the rainbow. ---------- If it's magic I'm being asked to believe in then how is an all merciful God going to send me to eternal Hell for not believing in something that my mind is designed to disbelieve? I don't know about your mind, but mine works on logic and magic is not logic. So those who don't believe in such stuff are going to be burnt for eternity? I'm sorry, but that is not my definition of infinite mercy. As far as the rainbow, I am now claiming that the Grand Canyon is my promise to you that I'm going to place $1000 into your bank account next week. Not very impressive, is it? Is that all that the "covenant" amounts to? I'm not impressed.
