I noted the following phrase in one the articles in this newsgroup:
"Our disturbed society is reeling in a deranged world."
How many of you agree with statements of this sort....that our society
is disturbed, the world is deranged, people are basically evil?
Are such statements used by established religions to justify their moral
stands, or is there a general consensus that something is desperately
wrong with human society?
Do the humanistic philosophies have a similar lament (or call to action,
if you will), or must they rely upon the basic good in humankind as a
starting place for philosophic development?
