Since there's been a discussion about Scientology in this group lately, I thought I'd share something with y'all that I received in the mail the other day from the Church of Scientology of Florida. It's an ad for L. Ron Hubbard's book "Dianetics", 436 pages for $15.00, only $3.95 for the paperback. The ad's promises for the book include the fol- lowing (quoted without permission): What is the state of mind at which a person can start to live at their full potential? 10's of thousands have achieved it with Dianetics. (p. 8) If, as L. Ron Hubbard discovered, the mind is "utterly incapable of error", why aren't people always correct in how they think and act? (p.16) What the five classes of psychsomatic illness are and how the reactive mind can precipitate illness as well as impede the cure. (p. 98) There are three kinds of love between a man and a woman. One will almost certainly lead to disaster. Which one? (p. 308) There's also a graph showing how Dianetics has increased the IQs of two practitioners from 108 and 112 to 126 and 146, respectively. I will not be ordering the book, but if anyone is interested the address is Dianetics Information Center %Church of Scientology of Florida 120 Giralda Avenue Coral Gables, Florida 33134 Last, but hardly the least interesting, "Scientology" and "Dianetics" are trademarks and service marks for publica- tions and services owned by Religious Technology Center. Does anyone know of any other religious trademarks? How about religious technology?
