[net.religion] still more on evolution

Just thought that it might be interesting to note that in the Koran
(at least in the english translation that I have), the "creation" occurs
as follows:

1 - The heavens and the earth were originally one mass which Allah
rent assunder (e.g. the "big bang"), and

2 - Men were created "from water" and "from a germ".

I believe that both of these accounts occur in the book(?) of
"the Prophets". If I'm wrong I'll let y'all know. In any case,
this is the most scientifically consistant account that I have
seen in religious literature; much more so than the "seven days
of Genesis".

P.S. - The Koran that I have is a "Penguin Classic" edition
which is available in most any shopping mall bookstore. If anyone
who speaks arabic(?) would like to offer an alternate translation
of the creation account, I'd like to hear about it.
