[net.religion] Happy slaves to gawd

feed/em/to/the/lions/@hysterical*fear.UUCP (06/25/83)

I was reading this group today and realised with some amusement that the
sentiments being expressed were very familiar; specifically, this apparently
universal feeling of peace after having turned one's life over to the care
and direction of The Supreme Being, of being cared for and watched over and
safe and all these other feelings that I find inappropriate in anyone
over the age of ten or so, certainly inappropriate to anyone who dares
refer to him/herself as an adult (but then y'all call yourselves His
Childern anyway...) Anyway, this all reminded me suddenly of a lecture on
sadomasochism given by a very happy slave. This guy said things so absolutely
similar to the party lines of the various SuperMommy in the Sky clubs,
especially you Son worshippers, that if I wasn't so disgusted and horrified
by both sets of aberrated sick/think I would laugh hysterically. (probably
for a long, long, take me away I can't deal with this anymore, time)
Well,
I guess he was happy with his Master and his dog-collar, and I hope you are
all happy with yours, but neither one of you had better try to tell me
you aren't sick.

Dear Mr. Mincemeat,

"Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves
for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin
resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?"
                                                         Rom 6:16

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

"I guess he was happy with his master and his dog-collar,
and I hope you are all happy with yours, but nerither one
of you had better try to tell me you aren't sick."

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Mincemeat, no one is sick. You have a terible misunderstanding of
slavery. Either you are enslaved to sin, self, and Satan or you are
enslaved to the Lord Jesus Christ. Being enslaved to sin, self, and
Satan is truly being in bondage. However, being enslaved to Jesus Christ
is real freedom. Believe me I've been on both sides.

"You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free."

Jn 17:17 "Sanctify them in the truth; thy word is truth."

Jn 14:6 "Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one
comes to the Father, but by me."

Jesus is the word, God's living message for all mankind.

from a recent article:

"... being enslaved to Jesus Christ is real freedom."

what, then, does "enslaved" mean? this seems like pure newspeak to me.
