I just want to summarize the discussion, to make sure I
understand.
On the existence or absence of God (or gods):
1) Those who DO believe in God (or gods) claim that anyone who does
NOT believe in God (or gods) is irrational, closed-minded, and
trying to force their beliefs on everyone else by taking over
the public school system and otherwise perverting our system
of democracy and justice.
2) Those who do NOT believe in God (or gods) claim that anyone who
DOES believe in God (or gods) is irrational, closed-minded, and
trying to force their beliefs on everyone else by taking over
the public school system and otherwise perverting our system
of democracy and justice.
3) No one likes to be reminded of the bad examples of people who
share a belief or disbelief.
4) Everyone likes to point out the bad examples of people who
do not share a belief or disbelief.
5) If one is trying to point out the horrors of strict adherence
to a religion, then Soviet Communism is a religion.
6) If one is trying to point out the horrors of the abolition
of religion, then Soviet Communism is not a religion.
And so on, and so on, and so on...
7) I almost forgot -- spelling and grammar are more important
than content.
I've seen some interesting ideas (on both sides), but wading through
the trash which constitutes the majority of the articles is difficult
enough that I wonder if it's worth my time.
I don't wonder, however, if it would be worth my time to submit my
own ideas. I am sure it would not. This, one may note, has
been carefully designed to conceal my own beliefs or disbeliefs.
