Enough people have asked me about the 1956 and 1967 references that I'm putting them on the net. They aren't quite as striking as the 1948 reference, which is why I didn't quote them the first time round. =========================================================================== Verse 5716 of the Torah (year 5716==1956) is Deut. XXX.13: Neither is it ["this commandment", an exhortation to repent] beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, `Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it?' (Soncino Translation) The 1956 Suez campaign involved Britain and France attacking across the Red Sea into Egypt. =========================================================================== Verse 5727 of the Torah (year 5727==1967) is Deut. XXXI.4: And the L-rd will do unto them as He did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto their land; whom he destroyed. 1967 was of course the year of the Six-Day War, in which Israel's forces totally defeated Egypt, Jordan and Syria. =========================================================================== I have looked at 5734 (October 1973 war) and found nothing of relevance to this topic.
