Whereas it makes no difference to me if anyone wants to render God as G-d, I do have trouble following the logic of such a practice. It's similar to writing f**k you, or go-to-h*ll -- the meaning doesn't change, just our impression of it. People who prefer such forms seem to hold the opinion that it doesn't matter so much what we say, but how we say it: form before substance. To me this is a troubling proposition. Afterall, racism is based on a similar philosophy. So is sexism. What we're dealing with here are synonyms, two different words used to transfer the same concept between humans. And it is the concept which is important, not the symbols. But that isn't true, is it?
