Christ DOES make a difference. I guess Christ DOES make a difference in this netter's life. It allows a feeling of superiority over the atheists. I don't need anyone feeling sorry for me because I'm an atheist. My life is anything but directionless and pointless; I don't need to be God's puppet to have a purpose. The strength to find meaning in your life lies within you; it's unfortunate (to my way of thinking) that some people have to submit to the elaborate mythology of Christianity in order to give themselves purpose and direction BUT better that than to live aimlessly, I suppose. Death is hardly a nightmare to an atheist. It just IS. It's an event, it will happen, and when it's happened the show is over. That's it. Period. No pie-in-the-sky. I think it would be much more nightmarish to have to wonder about judgment and the "eternal damnation" possibilities of many religions, but I don't worry about it because it doesn't exist. -- {hao, ucbvax, allegra}!nbires!rcd
