Here's the beef bug. There are several misconceptions that have been asserted recently in the net discussion that has (inconsiderately I might add) surfaced in net.flame and net.misc. Religion should stay in net.religion. The question of whether God exists is very much dependant on what god actually is, or would be if it/she/he/they did exist. I can't say that I believe in god, not having belief in the personified deity that certain groups of religious people do. I can't say that I don't, because I know I believe in something. I'm not entirely sure what it is, and to describe it with words might neccessarily restrict and limit it to something that I don't believe exists. I'm not even sure it's logically appropriate to question whether a god exists and expect a logical answer, much less an answer at all. Suppose you were confronted by a god. How would you recognize it for what it is? A Turing Test? :-) My point is, that unless you have some sort of agreement about what a god actually is, then you can't discuss whether a god exists. gods are people too. flames to allegra!physics!charm!slag
