[net.religion] jelly brains?

If you're so sure then why are you even bothering to read this newsgroup?
Does it stroke your ego and make you feel important to insult those who do
believe in God - and even those (such as I) who are open minded enough to
admit to the possibility of a God?
Everything in this world must be taken on faith as well as evidence. We
believe in a theory until have evidence to the contrary - but we don't always
throw the theory out altogether, we simply make alterations to it that make
it include the new information or add reasons for exceptions. Each person must
make his or her own decision what to or what not to believe. A mature person
has respect for other's viewpoints, even when he/she doesn't agree.
It is childish at best to degrade someone for their personal beliefs no matter
how different they may be from yours. Such an attitude has often been discribed
here as what people dislike most about Christians (and I use the term
loosely). Personally, I only bother with Christians (or anyone else for that
matter) with positive, loving attitudes. Those with negative, hateful attitudes
are rarely worth knowing.

Yes, it strokes my ego to (upset) people who believe in God4.
Especially when someone asks a fool question like "does God1 condemn
people to everlasting damnation? (the very thought pisses me off!)
Who knows? Who will ever Know? WHO HAS THE AUTHORITY OR INSIDE KNOWLEDGE
to answer for God4? I suppose the Pope does. I suppose Rev. Moon does.
Maybe you do! But each will have a different answer - doesn't that
  tell you something?
The reason I read this newsgroup is to 1) get better insight into
the other camp. 2)stir up debate for 1). 3) attempt to throw a little
logic and reason on the subject.
Call it a personal war if you will. So far as I'm concerned the root
of all EVIL (next to television) is not money nor sex but RELIGION!
It has attempted to stagnate Man's mind for thousands of years! It has
imposed restrictions on everyones freedom in a direct or indirect way.
I'm sick of it! Let's stand on our own two feet, begin to live for
the betterment of Mankind ALONE. We don't need a conjured up God4.
